Only 50% Of Canadians Have Jobs, The Unemployment Pandemic Last week the Canadian government released a new round of employment numbers. They weren’t stellar, but they weren’t bad – 7% unemployment. Now that’s almost twice as high as China, and a couple of points above the US, but once again not terrible. Although, a closer inspection revealed that only half of people in Canada have a source of income. If that weren’t bad enough, that number is rapidly rising. Unemployment stats fail to reflect a significant number of people that just don’t work. Unfortunately, this will change the future of our economy, and Canada in general – and not in a good way. Cooking The Employment Books You’ve heard the term unemployment, but you likely don’t know how we get that number. If you do, great! If no...

Climate change is a hot topic on a provincial, national and global scale. On November 23, 2015, the province of Alberta unveiled the Climate Leadership Plan which was the result of an extensive review of provincial climate policy that set into motion key developments that will affect businesses, municipalities and individuals in Alberta. Today I went to an employment & career fair (hiring fair) in Edmonton. It took place at Rexall Place, the home of the Edmonton Oilers and Edmonton Oil Kings, 2 hockey teams from Edmonton. Sooooo many people attended this employment fair! There were so many people inside I could barely walk around! But it shows a sad reality: unemployment rates in Alberta are increasing, specially since the oil process have been sinking down (and the province of Alberta depends a lot on the oil industry); as a result, a lot of people were lay-off from their jobs or are unemployed... This is a reality check for all who want to immigrate to Canada: unemploymenr rates are increasing (not just in Alberta, but in all Canada); if you decide to immigrate you would have to compete for jobs will all the Canadia...
